e-NEWSLETTER REPORT - September 2007
Overcoming the past can be one of
the most challenging things we would ever encounter. The former
experiences that haunt us, does not have to be a continual cycle
that leads to constant disappointment and heartache. Most would
agree that this is certainly no way to live our life.
In his book,
As a man Thinketh, James Allen
says, “We are made or unmade by ourselves. By our thoughts we
forge the weapons by which we can destroy ourselves. Likewise,
we also fashion the tools with which we build for ourselves
heavenly mansions of joy, of strength and of peace. By the right
choice and true application of thought, we ascend to the divine
perfection; by the abuse and wrong application of thought we
descend below the level of the beast.”
WE ARE OUR OWN MAKER AND MASTER!
In Luke 4:18-19 Jesus said, “The Spirit of the lord is upon me,
because He has anointed me to preach the good news to the poor,
He has sent me to announce release to the captives and recovery
of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are
oppressed" (who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed and broken
down by calamity),
To proclaim the accepted and acceptable year of the Lord; (the
day when salvation and the free favors of God profusely abound).
Amplified Version
According to this passage of scripture, we have been:
1.
RELEASED (to free from confinement, bondage,
obligation, pain)
2. RECOVERED (to get back something lost or taken away)
3. DELIVERED (to bring or transport to the proper place)
This is absolutely good news! To those who live in unresolved
pain: the pain of the past, the pain of today’s failures and the
pain of negative expectations this is absolute hope!
Jesus said that the Holy Spirit came to free us from the pain of
a broken heart. The ability to live our dreams is based upon us
getting over the blinding limitations of the past.
We know what it is to be held captive and even more importantly,
we know what it is to experience real peace, joy and fulfillment
which is the reason for Divine Choices.
Divine Choices, a non-denominational, faith-based 501 (c) (3)
was formed to be a vehicle for transporting those who have
struggled and are still struggling with the pain of the past. We
exist to help people move from confinement, take back our life
and walk out our dreams and aspirations.
Our first goal, specific to adult survivors of childhood sexual
abuse, we are in the process of developing a practical bible
based program that starts by identifying destructive
associations, how they affect us, and walking us through to
breaking the cycle. This program will be produced, delivered and
tested to individual and group sessions for both women and men.
Once the program is proven effective, we will license and
copyright the material in preparation to market and distribute
to churches across the street and around the world.
Our second goal and one that has been in the works for several
years is to write a book about our own life of growing up in a
violent and abusive home, how that affected us in our adult
years, where we ended up because of the traumas and how we got
free.
We are hoping that our story would point to the program that we
develop and let the reader know that we not only have the
experience but the will and passion to see other enjoy real
lasting freedom.
Our third goal is to search out and partner with a credible
secular prevention awareness program that would be specific to
children and youth. Through this type of program we would be
able to offer sexual abuse prevention seminars to groups like
sports clubs, education facilities, health and fitness clubs
etc. where children frequent.
We have an ambitious agenda for this ministry, but we believe
that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we
could ask or think. We do not want to simply be students
(information mongers) but disciples (action oriented, doers) who
walk in the footsteps of the one who made freedom available to
us all.
We covet your prayers for Divine Choices.
