Nikishna Polequaptewa, M.S. -
Board Member
As a board member, Nikishna brings
his passion for helping others
in need to Divine Choices. Nikishna is a
Native American and a
member of the Badger and Spider Clans of the Hopi Tribe,
which
gives Nikishna a sense of pride and connection with his American
Indian
heritage.
As Director of the American Indian
Resource Center at the
University of California Irvine (UCI), Nikishna works to instill pride
and
belonging to other American Indian students.
With low
numbers of
American Indians pursuing higher education, Nikishna
continues to inspire individuals from reservations throughout the
country to
receive college degrees. He knows first-hand the
importance of
outreach programs,
which helped him earn his
Bachelor's degree
in Environmental Analysis & Design
at UCI,
followed by a Master's degree in Resource Management from
Central
Washington
University. As a board member of Divine
Choices, Nikishna brings his passion for helping others
know they
can make it, too.
How
Nikishna is Serving Divine Choices:
Divine Choices is
developing a Native American childhood sexual abuse awareness
and prevention program for the Native American population.
Nikishna is
working along with Divine Choices to develop and
implement this program which
will be a valuable resource in
protecting Native American children.
Current Occupation: Director of American Indian Resource
Center,
University of California, Irvine.

Irvine graduation ceremony.
